ESL Class Fee: $35 per Trimester for Unlimited ESL classes, including Language Lab, Distance Learning and Citizenship classes (Cash, Check or Credit Card).
ESL Trimester Dates
2nd Trimester - January 9, 2012 to March 23, 2012
3rd Trimester i- March 27, 2012 to June 15, 2012
How to Register for Classes?
1. Choose the best location for you.
2. Register in that location.
3. Bring picture identification (if available).
Online registration is not available for ESL classes.
How to Choose a Class?
1. At registration, the student’s language level is assessed.
2. The language assessment takes about one hour.
3. Students are placed in classes based on their assessed language level.
Whether you want to get a job, get a promotion, go to college, prepare for the citizenship interview, or just communicate better with your neighbors and friends, improving your English skills is an important way to achieve your goals. We have English classes in the morning, afternoon, and evening, for all levels from beginning to advanced. Enrollment is open all year, but space is limited. Don’t wait any longer!

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS - Basic Classes
ESL Beginning Literacy - This class is for students who cannot read or write and have limited or no English language skills. Participants will develop listening comprehension, speaking and basic literacy skills necessary for the beginning level.
ESL Beginning - Students with limited understanding of English develop listening comprehension, reading, speaking and simple conversation skills needed to function in day-to-day adult situations.
ESL Intermediate - The emphasis is on developing greater fluency and oral communication as well as reading and writing skills. Participants should have completed ESL Beginning or equivalent and have a basic knowledge of survival English.
ESL Advanced - Expand oral language skills and refine reading and writing skills. Participants are prepared for academic studies and a broader range of educational and/or vocational opportunities.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS - Skills Classes
Multi-Level ESL (Class and Lab) - Develop listening comprehension, reading, speaking and conversation skills needed to function in day to day situations. Students of all levels are combined in this class.
Speaking and Pronunciation - Intermediate Students - Students at the beginning level will begin to recognize and produce English sounds. Those at the intermediate level will work on stress and intonation in the patterns of English speech.
Grammar and Writing -
Basic, beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes are offered to help students understand the foundation of the English grammar tense forms and basic grammatical structures needed to improve writing skills.
Conversation
-Intermediate Students - Participants will improve listening and speaking skills in order to better communicate in English. Students will practice dialogues and idioms in conversation.
Reading/Idioms -Intermediate Low Students - Develop comprehension skills and enrich your vocabulary through understanding and using idioms.
Movie Idioms - Advanced Students - This class is designed to help ESL students understand the vocabulary, idioms, and culture found in American movies.
Daily News - Advanced Students - Learning opportunities enable students to discuss current topics covered in newspapers and periodicals. Students increase their understanding of the vocabulary of newspapers and periodicalss.
Weekly News - Advanced Students - Newspaper, TV, radio, and Internet are used to generate discussion of current topics, themes, and headlines.
News and Vocabulary -Intermediate Students - In this class, students will use easy stories from the newspaper and Internet to learn new vocabulary and practice reading and conversation.

LANGUAGE MEDIA CENTER LAB
Individualized instruction, teacher assisted learning to increase skills in reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, life skills, and pronunciation. Use computers, interactive videos, small skill groups, books, newspapers, magazines, books with tapes, and conversation groups. Practice using your English in a conversational setting with community volunteers. Citizenship test material is also available.
Class Fees: $35 per trimester if not enrolled in ESL class - Cash, Check or Credit Card.
Cuesta Lab Schedule: Monday - Friday: 9:00 am - 4:10 pm.
